  • CTRL + TAB: Same as SHIFT + TAB
  • Windows + ESC: Open Google Talk (if it's minimized, or in the tray)

Conversation Text

  • A message can be 32767 characters long.
  • Certain smileys are recognized by Google Talk and will be shown in blue.
    :-| :-O :-x :-P :-D ;-) :-( :| :O :x :P :D :) :( ;-| ;-O ;-x ;-P ;-D ;-) ;-( ;| ;O ;x ;P ;D ;) ;( B-| B-O B-x B-P B-D B-) B-( B'( BO Bx BD B) B( B) And you can put a ' between the characters to get another one shown in blue.
  • To write text in bold, put it between *asteriks*
  • To write text in italic, put it between _underscores_
  • You can insert special characters like ♥♫☺ with 'Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Character Maps'.

Conversation Window

  • Drag a conversation window on top of another and they will dock together.
  • Drag a file onto the chat history and you'll send the file to the selected contact.
  • When you see a message notification, you can right click it to close it without focusing the conversation window.

Conference Calls

  • What you need to do to have conference calls: Open up a copy of Google Talk on all computers with which you wish to conference. After one copy is opened make a new shortcut for Google Talk but at the end of it add /nomutex. If you installed it to the default folder then your shortcut should read "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe" /nomutex. Open 2 instances of the software on every user's computer. After this start a chain: User 1 should connect on one instance to user 2. User 2 will connect on his second instance to user 3. User 3 will connect using his second instance back to user 1. With this chain everyone is connected to everyone.

Nickname & Status Message

  • You can change your name in the Google Account page.
or To change the nickname need to go to your Gmail account and change the name there. Choose Settings, Accounts, and then Edit info. Click on the second radio button, and enter your custom name.
As a result all of your emails will have that nick as well, there is no way to seperate the two.
  • You can add a website in your custom message, it will be clickable when someone opens a conversation window with you.

Contacts

  • You don't need to say Yes or No when someone wants to add you as a friend; you can simply ignore it, the request will go away. (On the other hand, someone with whom you chat often will automatically turn to be your friend, unless you disable this).
  • The Gmail account 'user@gmail.com' can't be invited as your friend.

Sound & Video

  • It's possible to broadcast music, MP3, etc.. through Google Talk.
Unplug your microphone. Double click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner. This will open
up "Volume Control". Select "Options" and then "Properties". Then check the button
next to "Recording" then click OK. You may also have to change your setting under
Mixer Device. Now the Recording Control screen should be up. On my computer I selected "Wave Out Mix". Click on the green phone in Google Talk and call your friend.

Secret Startup Parameters

  • /nomutex: allows you to open more than one instance of Google Talk
  • /autostart: when Google Talk is run with this parameter, it will check the registry settings to see if it needs to be started or not. If the "Start automatically with Windows" option is unchecked, it won't start.
  • /forcestart: same as /autostart, but forces it to start no matter what option was set.
  • /S upgrade: Used when upgrading Google Talk
  • /register: registers Google Talk in the registry, includig the GMail Compose method.
  • /checkupdate: check for newer versions
  • /plaintextauth: uses plain authentication mechanism instead then Google's GAIA mechanism. Used for testing the plain method on Google's servers.
  • /nogaiaauth: disables GAIA authentication method. The same as above.
  • /factoryreset: set settings back to default.
  • /gaiaserver servername.com: uses a different GAIA server to connect to Google Talk. Used for debug purposes only, there are no other known GAIA servers.
  • /mailto email@host.com: send an email with Gmail
  • /diag: start Google Talk in diagnostic mode
  • /log: probably has something to do with the diagnostic logging
  • /unregister: ?
  • /embedding: ?

Others

  • If there's something you think is missing in Google Talk, send off a message to Google.
  • There was a hidden game in Google Talk. In the about screen you could see 'play 23 21 13 16 21 19 . 7 1 13 5'. Each number represented a letter. a=1, b=2, c=3 .... When you translated this message it said: 'play wumpus.game'. To play this game you had to invite wumpus.game@gmail.com as a friend. wumpus.game@gmail.com is always offline now. You can still play Hunt the Wumpus here.
  • Google Talk can dock into the Google Desktop Sidebar. Doubleclick on the titlebar in the Google Talk main window and it docks as a panel into the GDS and slides out when you click the top of the docked panel.

Google Talk in Windows Live Messenger 9!

Recently a Microsoft employee announced what they're working on for the new version of Windows Live Messenger, connections with GTalk, ICQ and AIM. ICQ and AIM is still in the works. But they claim they have a basic connection to the Google Talk network, which means you can use Google Talk inside of Windows Live Messenger, like the Yahoo! compatibility added a while ago. Unfortunately, it doesn't support voice or file calls yet.
They're also working on adding some goodies, like multiple video/voice chats, and a new API for developing addons, but that's not relevant to Google Talk.
The first beta has been released, according to Ampcoder at Neowin. But it's a private beta, so you cannot get it unless it's leaked or they decide to release it public.

So, what do you think? Has Google teamed up with Microsoft? Or do Microsoft want to create a multi-protocol client without the support of Google? Or Microsoft just trying add some capabilities which its messenger lacked compared to Gtalk, YIM etc?

Translate in your GoogleTalk!

Google released 23 translation chat-bots yesterday. You just send them a message and they'll reply back with the translation within a second, inside Google Talk or any other jabber client. List of bots:

ar2en, de2en, de2fr, el2en, en2ar, en2de, en2el, en2es, en2fr, en2it, en2ja, en2ko, en2nl, en2ru, en2zh, es2en, fr2de, fr2en, it2en, ja2en, ko2en, nl2en, ru2en, zh2en

Explanation on the language codes:
EN = English, NL = Dutch, DE = German, ES = Spanish, FR = French, IT = Italian, KO = Korean, RU = Russian, JA = Japanese, ZH = Chinese.

Add the bot like this to your buddylist:
<FirstLanguage>2<SecondLanguage>@bot.talk.google.com

This service is hosted by Google, and therefore I bet it's using Google's translation tool. :P
Google also encourage you to create your own bots, if you know programming. :) Since the XMPP protocol is open, you can find a lot information on bot-making on the web.

BD's Submarine Cable & Sabotage

In this month of November we are experiencing the worst of the disasters. The hurricane 'Sidr' did a huge damage to our nation. We had no control over it. Before this we had been under two massive floods in Bangladesh. But there were other great disasters caused by human beings. We lost our link to Submarine Cable Landing station several times before this hurricane and even afterward it was cut again. Statistics show that, since from beginning of this highspeed communication channel, it had been cut several times by the criminals in most of the incidents of dislinkage. This cable is of almost no re-sale value at all. Now, everyone is wondering whats the actual cause behind this.
Lets put thoughts and we will be able to identify the reason behind this henious act:
1. Neighboring India: As we are competetitor to India in some goods, products subotaging our means of communication can cuause us not only billions but also lose contracts and thus making their ways.
2. VoIP illegal business holders. As this govt has almost stopped all the illegally running VoIP businesses, they taking chance of running their own VSAT while the main line is down. Thus, making point that we cant run without VSAT and cant depend on Optical Fiber alone.
3. Islamic activists: Activists like JMB(Jamayatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh), has only concern of making damages to the nation. And those fundamentalist terrorists hate technology, science, knowledge etc.
4. Corrupted Politicians + Businessmen: Those who wants to cause damages as they are doing with price rises and ruining efforts of this government.
Well, whatever the cause might be, we shouldn't let our most important means of communication be so vulnarable and prone to failure. We should create alternative backup links for any sort of such disasters. We should hunt down those suboteurs, and punish them with their appointers in rapid succession. We shouldnt let them be successfull all those times. Destroying such state-property should be punishable by long term jail etc.

How To Intall ActiveX in your Vista Operating System

The ActiveX Installer Service is disabled by default (well, it's not even installed). To install it, follow these steps:

  1. <!--[if !supportLists]-->Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. <!--[if !supportLists]-->Click Programs. Then, click Turn Windows Features On And Off. A UAC prompt appears.
  3. <!--[if !supportLists]-->At the Windows Features dialog, select ActiveX Installer Service check box. Then, click OK.
  4. <!--[if !supportLists]-->Restart your computer.
  5. <!--[if !supportLists]-->After the computer restarts, you need to set the ActiveX Installer (AxInstSV) service to start automatically. Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Manage. Expand Services and Applications, and then click Services. Right-click ActiveX Installer (AxInstSV), and then click Properties. Click Startup type, and then click Automatic. Then, click the Start button, and finally click OK.

Now that you've done that, nothing will behave differently. To use it, you must enable the "Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\ActiveX Installer Service\Approved Installation Sites For ActiveX Controls" Group Policy setting and add each URL you want to allow ActiveX controls for. For the value, you can typically just go with "2,2,1,0″.

Here is a complete walkthrough of the installation and configuration of AxIS on Windows Vista RC1 in this video: Start video 100k | 300k

You can watch this video to configure your Vista PC to enable installing of ActiveX.

A Very Funny Essay

This is a true essay written by a CSS candidate at the CSS Exam held
in year 2002-2003 in Islamabad . The candidate has written an essay on
Cow:

"COW"

He is the cow. "The cow is a successful animal. Also he is 4 footed.
And because
he is female , he gives milks, [but will do so when he is
got child.]. He is same like-God, sacred to Hindus and useful to man.
But he has got four legs together. Two are forward and two are
afterwards. His whole body can be utilized for use. More so the milk.
Milk comes
from 4 taps attached to his basement. [horses don't have
any such attachment]

What can it do? Various ghee, butter, cream, curd, why and the
condensed milk and so forth. Also he is useful to cobbler, water mans
and mankind generally. His motion is slow only because he is of lazy
species. Also his
other motion. {gober} is much useful to trees,
plants as well as for making flat cakes [like Pizza], in hand, and
drying in the sun.

Cow is the only animal that extricates his feeding after eating. Then
afterwards he chews with
his teeth that are situated in the inside of
the mouth
. He is incessantly in the meadows in the grass. His only
attacking and defending organ is the horns, specially so when he is
got child. This is done by knowing his head whereby he causes the
weapons to be paralleled to the ground of the earth and instantly
proceed with great velocity forwards.
He has got tails also, situated
in the backyard
, but not like similar animals. It has hairs on the
other end of the other side. This is done to
frighten away the flies
which alight on his cohesive body here upon he gives hit with it. The
palms of his feet are soft unto the touch. So the grasses head is not
crushed. At night time have poses by looking down on the ground and he
shouts.
His eyes and nose are like his other relatives.

This is the cow.

Bangladesh: One man's trash is another man's robot

BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- A robot that can swab floors, pick up objects and do other simple jobs is being developed by a Bangladeshi graduate student at a fraction of the cost of other humanoids.

Feroz Ahmed Siddiky of the International Islamic University in Chittagong says his "IRobo" has spatial intelligence, responds to voice commands and is inexpensive because it's made from scrap materials he's scavenged from electronic shops and car mechanics.

"On completion, this robot will comply with different verbal commands for tasks like shifting objects, cleaning floors and standing guard," Siddiky told Reuters.

"It can also be used for some risky jobs like in coal mines, where workers commonly suffer many accidents."

Siddiky has spent two years developing the robot and says it will take one more year of engineering before it's finished. Discussions about commercial production of his creation are currently underway with an Australian software firm.

"I hope people will be able to buy it for less than 1,000 dollars," he added.

Nobel winners' discovery led to your iPod

This years Nobel Prize 2007 is given to the two scientists whose discovery revolutionized digital data storage, their research allows millions to sway to music on their iPods and to store a lifetime's photographs on palm-size devices.

Peter Gruenberg of Germany and Albert Fert of France were recognized for their independent discovery of giant magnetoresistance - an exotic phenomenon whose practical applications became ubiquitous in everyday life in less than two decades.

Among the results: The palm-size external hard drive that can hold a good chunk of your local library. The iPod that allows you to carry a thousand songs in your pocket. The computing revolution that allows your laptop to hold more information than a 19th-century warehouse.

"The raw understanding of how nature works is a great thing," Dean, vice president for research at IBM said. "The application of that knowing how nature works in the creation of something my mother can use is another great breakthrough - and as significant."

Their discovery that ultra-thin slices of metal have different electrical properties in a magnetic field not only changed the musical and computing habits of the entire planet but also altered the very landscape of how people think about information, and the ways in which music, movies and ideas can be shared.

Packing information into ever-more-compact spaces is at the heart of the success of devices such as the iPod. That success would have been impossible without the scientific discovery honored Tuesday.

The phenomenon of giant magnetoresistance, or GMR, is one of those ideas that seems impossible until someone shows how it can be done, and then it seems obvious. Hundreds of laboratories and companies today are expanding on Fert's and Gruenberg's idea, with results more striking than anything they had originally visualized.

How it works

Although giant magnetoresistance does sound a bit like one of those mutants in the "X-Men" movie series, it actually describes a phenomenon at the junction of electricity and magnetism: When two layers of a metal such as iron are separated by a thin layer of another metal such as chromium, the application of a magnetic field can change the resistance of the structure - which determines how much electricity will flow through it.

Without giant magnetoresistance, a lot of information still could be packed into a tiny space, but it would be unreadable. Effectively, GMR technology provides a sort of magnifying glass that allows electronic devices to read very tiny letters.

Fert, 69, is a professor at the University of Paris-Sud, in Orsay, France . Born in Carcassonne, France, he is married and has two children. Gruenberg, 68, was born in Pilsen in what is now the Czech Republic. Now a German citizen, he works at the Institute of Solid State Research, which is part of a scientific facility known as Research Center Juelich in western Germany. He is married and has three children.

Woman Ordered to Pay $222,000 for downloading and sharing music

A woman ordered to pay US$222,000 for downloading and sharing music files has decided to appeal the case.

A happy Jammie Thomas said on her Myspace.com blog that the appeal was announced by her lawyer, Brian Toder, in an interview with CNN.

"My attorney announced, on national television, with the RIAA watching I'm more than certain, we're going to appeal," she wrote in the blog entry. Winning the appeal will "stop RIAA in their tracks," she wrote.

Thomas was ordered last week by a jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota to pay $222,000 in damages to six music labels, representing $9,250 for each of 24 songs illegally downloaded and shared over the Kazaa file-sharing network. The case against Thomas was filed by the Recording Industry Association of America, an umbrella group representing music labels.

The verdict was a sign that RIAA might come out victorious in some of the more than 20,000 lawsuits it has filed against people for alleged Internet copyright infringement.

Thomas, who lives in Brainerd, Minnesota, has also set up a Web site to raise funds to cover legal expenses. As of Monday, supporters had donated $957.

Neither RIAA nor attorney Toder, of the Chestnut and Combronne law firm, could not be reached for comment.

The music labels involved in the suit include Capitol Records Inc., Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Bros. Records Inc.

How Much RAM is enough?

Up to a point, adding RAM (random access memory) will normally cause your computer to feel faster on certain types of operations. RAM is important because of an operating system component called the virtual memory manager (VMM).

When you run a program such as a word processor or an Internet browser, the microprocessor in your computer pulls the executable file off the hard disk and loads it into RAM. In the case of a big program like Microsoft Word or Excel, the EXE consumes about 5 megabytes. The microprocessor also pulls in a number of shared DLLs (dynamic link libraries) -- shared pieces of code used by multiple applications. The DLLs might total 20 or 30 megabytes. Then the microprocessor loads in the data files you want to look at, which might total several megabytes if you are looking at several documents or browsing a page with a lot of graphics. So a normal application needs between 10 and 30 megabytes of RAM space to run. On my machine, at any given time I might have the following applications running:

  • A word processor
  • A spreadsheet
  • A DOS prompt
  • An e-mail program
  • A drawing program
  • Three or four browser windows
  • A fax program
  • A Telnet session

Besides all of those applications, the operating system itself is taking up a good bit of space. Those programs together might need 100 to 150 megabytes of RAM, but my computer only has 64 megabytes of RAM installed.

The extra space is created by the virtual memory manager. The VMM looks at RAM and finds sections of RAM that are not currently needed. It puts these sections of RAM in a place called the swap file on the hard disk. For example, even though I have my e-mail program open, I haven't looked at e-mail in the last 45 minutes. So the VMM moves all of the bytes making up the e-mail program's EXE, DLLs and data out to the hard disk. That is called swapping out the program. The next time I click on the e-mail program, the VMM will swap in all of its bytes from the hard disk, and probably swap something else out in the process. Because the hard disk is slow relative to RAM, the act of swapping things in and out causes a noticeable delay.

If you have a very small amount of RAM (say, 16 megabytes), then the VMM is always swapping things in and out to get anything done. In that case, your computer feels like it is crawling. As you add more RAM, you get to a point where you only notice the swapping when you load a new program or change windows. If you were to put 256 megabytes of RAM in your computer, the VMM would have plenty of room and you would never see it swapping anything. That is as fast as things get. If you then added more RAM, it would have no effect.

Some applications (things like Photoshop, many compilers, most film editing and animation packages) need tons of RAM to do their job. If you run them on a machine with too little RAM, they swap constantly and run very slowly. You can get a huge speed boost by adding enough RAM to eliminate the swapping. Programs like these may run 10 to 50 times faster once they have enough RAM!

Say Goodbye to PenDrive Viruses : Turn off Autorun and make your PC running smooth again :)

Now-a-days everyone has the necessity for a PenDrive or FlashDrive or lets just say Removable Storage Devices. And most of the Trojans or viruses gets spreaded from this means. You'll see commecial shops are very much afraid of using pendrives. Most of them deny service if you want to use a pendrive with you.
Now let us learn some VITAL technics to get rid of this messy headache once and for all. This article is collection of boosted tips & tricks altogether from the net and own experiences. We will learn how to fight with the infections from pendrive viruses like : DiskKnight, Kopa, Brontok etc and also kill them. In most cases we even wont need any antiviruses.

Tip 1.To disable CD autoplay in XP using either local group policy or, for an enterprise, an Active Directory group policy. The local group policy editor method: If you dont understand what these jargons mean dont worry just follow whats below :)

  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Enter GPEDIT.MSC
Group Policy mmc will popup. On left panel:
  • Double-click Computer Configuration to open submenu
  • Double-click Administrative Templates to open submenu
  • Double-click System to open submenu
  • Double-click Turn autoplay off option which will be near the bottom of the list in the right panel.
The default is the Not configured . Set it to Enabled.
Tip 2. XP supports autorun when you put a CD in the CDROM. To disable, set Autorun=0 to enable, set Autorun=1. If Autorun is enabled, you can disable the feature for any particular CD by holding down the shift key as you close the CDRom drawer. AutoRun should be disabled for kiosk PCs(ie. CyberCafe or shop PCs) and other environments where you are restricting ability to install new software. Cut and paste the following Windows NT / Windows 2000 Registry script text into autocdrom.reg file and run it:

REGEDIT4
BLANK LINE GOES HERE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom]
"Autorun"="0"

BLANK LINE GOES HERE

There is a potential downside to Autorun. In the background, NT / W2K / XP are constantly querying the CD / DVD drive whether anything new has been inserted. For high performance games, this can cause hiccups, unexplained pauses. Just turn it off if you suspect this is your problem.

Tip 3. Use the Kopa Killer to get rid of Viral Side Effects
This helpfull tool from vistaarc.com helps you to get rid of these:
  • Remove main executables of Mr. kopa from your PC
  • Enable Registry Permission
  • Enable Folder Options
  • Enable Task Manager
  • Delete kopa executables & autorun.inf from the root of your pen drive
  • Tip 4. Enable Registry Editor disabled by Brontok, Kopa, DiskKnight etc
Goto start and Run and type exactly the following and hit enter Viola! :

    REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

or goto http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Security-Related/RRT-Remove-Ristrictions-Tool.shtml to get the freeware which will remove restrictions on FolderOptions, RegistryEditor and TaskManager

Tip 5. View and Terminate processes when task manager is disabled. I had to look for this option as Kopa killer software failed to Turn off a task(startup.exe) from the running processes. In my case a Kopa variant was still in memory after running the Kopa Killer from VistaArc.com

Use tasklist.exe from command prompt to see the list of running processes in XP

and to remove a process lets say knight.exe type the following at command prompt:

    taskkill /IM knight.exe

How to Convert 3gp/flv Videos to other Formats

Nowadays the cameras bundled with mobile phones are improving day by day and we already have 5MP cams. Most of the handsets captures videos as 3GP formats and also when we want to play other videos in mobile phones, it becomes difficult as it accepts only 3GP or MP4 formats (although some of the models also accept mpeg formats). Now the question is how to convert 3GP to other formats and vice versa. There are lot of converters available for this, but most of them are not freewares and many of them lose the clarity while converting.

SUPER © is a software that supports a wide variety of input/source file format to play or encode (to & from) without any additional third party software.

If you need a simple, yet very efficient tool to convert (encode) or play any Multimedia file, without reading manuals or spending long hours training, then SUPER © is all you need. It is a Multimedia Encoder and a Multimedia Player, easy-to-use with 1 simple click.

    Super1

Supported input source file formats are:

    - Video format: 3gp/3g2 (Nokia, Siemens, Sony Ericsson) asf, avi (DivX, H263, H263+, H264, XviD, MPEG4, MSmpeg4), dat, fli, flc, flv (used in Flash), mkv, mpg (Mpeg I,Mpeg II), mov (H263, H263+, H264, MPEG4), mp4 (H263, H263+, H264, MPEG4), ogg, qt, rm, ram, rmvb, str (Play Station), swf (Flash), ts (HDTV), viv, vob, wmv
    - Audio format: aac, ac3, amr, mmf, mp2, mp3, mp4, mpc, ogg, ra, wav, wma.

As you can see from the list, it supports a wide range of formats. Converting the file is also very easy. All you have to do is to drag and drop the file into the area and select the type of conversion required. Then select the video and audio properties needed and click convert. Thats it, the file is converted into the desired format without any loss of clarity.

    Here are some useful tips;

    • Video scale size, aspect ratio and frames per second are important things to note while converting.
    • If you intent to convert files to 3GP format for Sony Ericsson phones, select 176 X 144 scale size, aspect ratio as 1:1 and frames per second as 15.
    • You can convert files with any duration and size. (No restrictions)
    • Super supports conversion (encoding both ways, to and from) for all listed formats.

I have converted complete movies (1.5 GB size) from Mpeg to 3GP formats for playing it in my W700i without losing any clarity of the original video. I recommend this software for all those convert videos to 3GP and vice versa for use in mobile phones.

    Here is another quote from SUPER regarding this software;

SUPER © is 100% FREE to download and to use. Any attempt to sell SUPER © such as on eBay, is THEFT. Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. SUPER © is a FREEWARE that cannot be sold under any circumstances.

Current version of SUPER © : v2007.build.22 (March 14, 2007). If you need any help in converting the files, do leave a comment.

The latest version can be downloaded from here. FAQs and detailed demonstration available here .

And good that you've found a great security hole windows has. Its a security hole because Windows lets the program change certain settings without making precautions. Have you tested the renaming part of this?
Now listen.. its nothing near to virus. Its just a malware. Virus needs lots of capability to be called as a virus. Replication, infection, spreading automatically, infecting new PCs through any executable files and many more. It can though be called as an worm. U used sub7's icon with your .exe file thats why I thought its sub7's variant.
    12-16 is your Birthday?
Enough with Batch coding now learn real programming with C++, C#, Java etc.
Antiviruses detect it as those test in heuristic mode...

    Thank you.

Your PC might be infected with a virus which tries to access the removable device when u are not. May be thats why its giving that error. Before ejecting make sure u closed all windows which opened any media from your MP3 player. And also check with antivirus if you cant get rid of the problem. If the device is bz it wont release, remember that.

Convert Flash Video .flv Files to .mpg or .avi and Other Media Formats

With some tricks, it's now possible to download the videos that hosted and shared on online video sites such as YouTube and Google Video, instead of just watching the video embedded on the websites.

Yahoo Messenger's Webcam invites may cause trouble

There's a new zero-day attack in progress against Yahoo Messenger users. The instant messaging solicitation invites users to open their Webcam. However, the code used in this China-based exploit causes a heap overflow to be triggered when the target accepts a Webcam invitation. That means a remote attacker could execute malicious code on a compromised machine.

The McAfee security blog recommends the following: do not accept Webcam invites from untrusted sources until a patch is released, and block outgoing traffic on TCP port 5100 on your firewall until a patch is released.

Yahoo has been informed and says it is working on a patch.

    They Most paying keywords

Do you know which are the buzzwords/keywords everyone is talking about nowadays?
Or are you just gonna ask what are keywords? or buzzwords?
Okay, let me explain. Keywords are just words which applies to specific matters as reserved or usable words. Lets say 'legal' can be a keyword while talking about law things. And buzzwords are also words but they are most discussed words or most used words.
You might also wonder why people will be crazy about some words? Are they some kind of jerks? or geeks? or scrabble players?
Well, in most cases they are not! Then why people are after words? lol
You are not the only one to be ignorant like this but dont be for too long.
Its the latest internet trend that people, even people around you have become interested about making money online. And others, spending lots of bucks to spread their new ideas, products, sites to the hugely growing internet users all over the world. These both group needs those valuable keywords. These keywords are words which ppl look for in the internet and advertisers eager to provide or catch customers from them. Now that making your presence is becoming more and more easier through free websites, webcommunities, forums, profile sites, blogs - people trying to use those keywords in funny manners to get quick money from showing ads in their webspaces. Especially through Google Adsense program.
Lets see a very funny description wrote at someone's profile:
i enjoy money and finance, i have a loan for my student fees and my grandad needs a mesothelioma lawyer. I think asbestos cancer is a bad thing and lung cancer can be caused from smoking tobacco. I use affiliate programs to help earn money online. My father is a federal criminal attorney and he specialises in being a car accident lawyer and personal injury claims.
    * underlined words are the keywords for which advertisers usually pay high amount to the ad publishers for competetive bidding.

At AGLOCO, we asked a simple question: The users created the community, where's their share of the profit?
It was from this question that AGLOCO set out to create the Internet's first Economic Network, harnessing the power of Internet-based social networks to directly benefit the Members who help to create the community.
Becoming a member of AGLOCO is as simple as completing a brief sign-up page (name, age, location and email address.). Once you're a Member, you will be asked to then download the Viewbar™ software. (Note: the Viewbar™ software is currently unavailable, as it is in closed testing. It will be ready for public download in a few weeks, and members will be notified when it is available.)
AGLOCO makes money for its Members in many ways:

    • Search: Every time you use the Viewbar™ to do an Internet search, AGLOCO earns money from the search engine providers. (For example, Google pays as much as $0.10 on average for each search that is directed to its search engine.)
Advertising: The Viewbar™ itself displays ads that are targeted based upon the websites you're visiting. When you click on an ad and make a purchase, AGLOCO receives a referral fee, which we pass on to our Members. (Please note: Individual members do not receive any compensation for clicking on ads in the Viewbar™, and the Viewbar™ can detect if someone is clicking ads in a fraudulent manner.)
Transaction commissions: Many major retailers pay commissions when you refer customers who make a purchase. AGLOCO collects that commission and passes it on to our members. (For example, Amazon pays an 8.5% commission to most websites who refer customers, and has cut deals for even larger percentages. The bigger the AGLOCO community, the better commission we can negotiate for our Members.)
Software distribution: Numerous software companies pay websites to encourage the download of new software releases (for example, Adobe's Flash and Acrobat Reader software), and trial versions of new programs. AGLOCO members not only get access to the latest and coolest software, they get paid for it.
Service distribution: Many online service providers will look to the AGLOCO community as a source of new and active users for their services. (For example, eBay, Skype, and PayPal, among others, all pay fees to people who help them recruit new active users to their services)
Product distribution: When Members agree to use a product, such as cell phones, high-tech gadgets, office supplies, new credit cards or financial services, AGLOCO can collect referral fees. Some companies even offer special rebate and cash-back programs.
AGLOCO Members make money in four ways.
    • Members earn a monthly share of the AGLOCO revenue based on the use of the AGLOCO Viewbar™ that month.
    • Members earn part of the company based on the use of the AGLOCO Viewbar™ that month (currently a maximum of five hours are rewarded).  Click here for details.
    • Members who use our referral system to help build the AGLOCO network will earn more. (AGLOCO only has significant value as a large network and people who help build it should be rewarded. – We also feel that the early users who told friends about YouTube or MySpace or even Google probably deserved something too, but no referral system was available to record their work).
    • Members will also get a share of any commissions AGLOCO gets when a Member purchases a product or service from an AGLOCO Sponsor company.
    Why should I join now?
    • First, it costs nothing to Join and takes less than one minute.

    • Second, you can help build the AGLOCO community by recruiting new Members TODAY.

Right now, inviting your friends to join AGLOCO is as easy and productive as it will ever be – but you need to invite your friends before someone else beats you to them.

Remember, the bigger the AGLOCO community, the more attractive AGLOCO is to potential business partners and advertisers.

      • Recruit your friends and family by contacting them through email. (But remember we have a strict anti-spam policy .)
      • Use your blog and your existing social networks, such as MySpace and Facebook, to contact your friends and encourage them to join a new community that will actually let them earn money.

Yahoo! Photos is closing -- Save your Photos Before they are deleted!!

Do you know Yahoo is going to stop Yahoo!Photos!! see what they said on this regard.

    Dear Yahoo users,

For some time now, we've supported two great photo sharing services: Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. But even good things come to an end, and we've decided to close Yahoo! Photos to focus all our efforts on Flickr the award-winning photo sharing community that TIME Magazine has called "completely addictive."

We will officially close Yahoo! Photos on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT. Until then, we are offering you the opportunity to move to another photo sharing service (Flickr, KODAK Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, or Photobucket), download your original-resolution photos back to your computer, or buy an archive CD from our featured partner (for users of the New Yahoo! Photos only). All you need to do is tell us what to do with your photos before we close, after which any photos remaining on Yahoo! Photos will be deleted and no longer accessible.

Of course, we hope you'll join us at Flickr (you can even use your Yahoo! ID), but we also realize that Flickr may not be for everyone. In the end, we want you to find the service that's right for you, and we hope you take some time to learn more about your options before making this important decision.

Please give us your decision by Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT. After that time, any photos remaining in Yahoo! Photos will be deleted. Click here to make your decision, or review a list of our frequently asked questions.

    Things what Smart ppl do

Here are some Tips on how to recognise Smart TechSavvy people:
    1. They use smart browsers like FireFox, Opera... Especially Firefox has lots of addons which actually provide you with lots of facilities and visual tools. This is ideal for WebDevelopers. You can have Adsense notifier at the status of FireFox. You can look at the CSS, Scripts, Layouts and also can edit them on the fly using mouse. Thus you can change the way the pages look. And then actively modify your own page. This is great for learners as they can explore. Every Advanced users like FireFox. Important to not is Smart users dont only depend on one browser. they sometimes use more than one Browser at a time :)   You can download firefox with google toolbar(which is again very handy tool) for free.
    2. They have own website or profile or blogs and express their ideas to many. They use revenue earning schemes such as Adsense. See the top of this page to get link for Adsense. Re: Lenin Bhai amie Anjon

Previously Yahoo mails could be downloaded / uploaded  from within  MSOE(Outlook Express)  by using  mail server names as  pop.yahoo.com and smtp.yahoo.com you can easily find instructions regarding this on the internet. Later yahoo closed that pop access service so ppl no more could check mails from MSOE or similar mail client programs. But people could use Hotmail from OE. But in very recent past hotmail also stopped OE support for free hotmails. since I use the longer version of internet from then I didn't feel the necessity to use OE or Eudora to send/receive mails which I used to use till like 2003/4.
Well, I looked for info on using Gmail on email clients. gmails can be checked from special gmail app with ur GPRS connections also.
And Gmail I made an article for CT which probably wasn't published or was due to be published or we didn't print as other magazines already published similar type so I wanted to blend it out for more usefullness. From your Gmail inbox see the help link at Upper right from which I did compile this tutorial... I attached my writing here.
I am not sure if hotmail/yahoo again offering pop access to email clients but you can have a look by searching in google or just within hotmail/yahoo U'll see that within mail options and help and FAQ :)
And you'll never have to remind me that you are Anjon, untill I forget you. I possess an amazing quality of memory that I forget very little things. And since your email address is also Anjon**** its obvious that you are Anjon :D
Hope you are doing fine with you EEE studies at Ahsanulah :)

Don't think your computer has errors?

Don't think your computer has errors?
It's a known fact that over 93.7% of computers that are over 30 days old are infected with spyware and adware. Such software is rarely accompanied by an uninstall utility and even when it is it almost always leaves broken Windows Registry errors behind it.

Even if you bought a spyware remover tool your Windows Registry might be broken - developers of those tools are focused on removing spyware and adware only, not every trace of software itself.

    Most Common Windows Registry Problems

Your PC is likely infected with Windows registry errors if it has ever experienced any of the problems:

    • PC runs much slower than when you first bought it
    • PC keeps crashing at critical times
    • Unable to remove a software using add/remove dialog
    • PC doesn't shutdown correctly
    • PC doesn't startup correctly
    • PC needs frequent rebooting
    • Getting the "Blue Screen of Death

This is just a small list of problems and errors that your Windows registry may have.

    Microsoft and open source patents

Microsoft believes that Linux and open source software violates 235 of its patents and it wants violators to pay up. The company for years has been bashing the open source community and this latest move may well be the bloodiest battle yet.

    By John Fontana

Which patents have allegedly been violated?

Microsoft's legal general Brad Smith gave a broad breakdown of the alleged violations during an interview with Fortune magazine,

but has not detailed specific patents that have been violated. Smith said the Linux kernel violates 42 patents and the operating system's user interface violates 65. The Open Office application suite violates 45 patents and open source e-mail applications infringe on 15. Other open source software applications infringe on 68 patents.

What is the official word from Microsoft?

Microsoft's Intellectual Property team is handling this issue and it isn't saying anything beyond a statement released to the press by Horacio Gutierrez, vice president of intellectual property and licensing: "Even the founder of the Free Software Foundation, Richard Stallman, noted last year that Linux infringes well over 200 patents from multiple companies. [Gutierrez cited this passage.]

The real question is not whether there exist substantial patent infringement issues, but what to do about them. Microsoft and Novell developed a solution that meets the needs of customers, furthers interoperability and advances the interests of the industry as a whole. Any customer that is concerned about Linux IP issues needs only to obtain their open source subscriptions from Novell."

How does this relate to Microsoft's partnership with Novell last year?

As part of the deal, the two agreed not to sue each other's customers over patent and intellectual property infringements. Dell joined the pair earlier this month. The Covenant to Customers ruffled major feathers in the Linux and open source community for its many loopholes and missing details and led to accusations that Novell was bamboozled again by Microsoft.

How did the open source community react?

Richard Stallman, the leader of the Free Software Foundation, says the next version of the GNU General Public License, GPL 3.0, which is nearing final draft, will be crafted to block the type of patent/IP deal Novell and Microsoft cut.

What is at stake for users?

Users found to be using software that infringes on patents could be held liable, but first Microsoft will have to reveal the specific patents it is talking about. Until then, Microsoft is turning up the heat but nobody is about to get burned. Users should check their contracts from vendors that supply open source products. Vendors such as Red Hat and Sun offer limited forms of protection.

How much will Microsoft want vendors/users to pay?

Unknown - it is likely Microsoft would target a few key vendors and distributors whose software has trickled down into many other open source packages. Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux are two very popular Linux distributions that could come under the microscope.

Why is Microsoft doing this now?

Linux/open source is getting its tentacles deep into many companies and Microsoft wants to control this as much as it can in order to maximize its own profits. Also, the open source desktop operating system and applications are starting to chip at Microsoft's revenue foundation -- Office and Windows.

"Microsoft is being pushed on a lot of sides and they are showing that they are going to respond," says Laura DiDio, an analyst with the Yankee Group who has been following software indemnity issues for years. "This is very interesting. Another question is will you see other companies like Apple, which is based on Unix, will they say Linux and open source infringes on our side."

Is this a new tactic from Microsoft?

No. Microsoft has been threatening to use this weapon for some time, but this is the most concrete step it has taken. The company started building up to this crescendo for many years by protecting its own users over patent and other infringement cases. In 2003, it signed a licensing deal with the SCO Group to insulate Microsoft customers from copyright infringement issues.

In a move similar to what Microsoft could now do after having alleged patent infringement, SCO sued IBM and sent letters to 1,500 Linux users warning them of potential copyright infringement and other legal issues. Also in 2003, Microsoft moved to clear up indemnity issues with its users by lifting a cap on what it would pay to protect volume licensing customers from infringement suits over Microsoft products.

In 2004, the program was expanded again to include almost all customers. At the time, critics said it was mostly a marketing move, but in the light of this week's infringement allegations it may have been setting a defence before going on offence.

What can Microsoft do if vendors do not voluntarily comply?

Microsoft could take them to court, but smaller open source and Linux vendors without the financial means to fight would likely cave in long before that happens.

Does this mean the end of some open source products?

That is to be determined, but if Microsoft pushes the issue it could throw open source software into chaos. The company for years has been labelled by critics as the master of fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD). The FUD aspect alone could cause enough ripples with the buying public that Microsoft would never have to put any teeth behind the threat of legal action.

How unpopular is this going to be?

If you like reading blogs and discussion threads then crank up your browser because the acid tongues are already wagging. Microsoft is well within its legal rights to protect what it has invested billions to create, but that doesn't mean the process won't have a pungent odour.

Now read: Microsoft: We won't sue over Linux, for now….
